Une après-midi la plage - An afternoon at the beach

Toute la petite troupe arrive à la plage plus que chargée. On n'y va pas les mains dans les poches, surtout quand il y a des enfants. Encore heureux c'est l'après-midi, sinon il y aurait fallu en plus apporter le pique-nique pour le déjeuner. Pas besoin de parasol non plus, Mamie a loué une tente comme chaque année. 

Nina : "Dépêchez vous ! On va poser les affaires dans la tente."

The whole little group arrives at the beach loaded with stuff. You don't go there unprepared, especially when there are children. It's a good thing it's the afternoon, otherwise they would have had to bring a picnic for lunch as well. No need for a beach umbrella either, like every year Grandma rented a tent .

Nina : "Hurry up! Let's put our things in the tent."

                                            
Lucie : "Mais pourquoi la mer est si loin cette année ?"

Mamie : "Parce que c'est marée basse, elle sera haute en fin d'après-midi."

Lucie : "Eh ben, il faudra beaucoup marcher pour remplir les seaux d'eau."

Fiona : "Oui, mais c'est le bon moment pour pêcher les crevettes."

Mamie : "S'il y en a assez ce sera l'entrée pour le diner. Allez, Lucie, avance. J'aimerais bien poser toutes les affaires." 

Lucie : "But why is the sea so far away this year?"

Grandma : "Because it's low tide, it'll be high late afternoon."

Lucie : "Well, eh, we'll have to walk a long way to fill the buckets with water."

Fiona : "Yes, but it's the perfect time to go shrimping."

Grandma : "If there are enough they'll be the starter for dinner. Come on, Lucie, move on. I'd like to put all the things down."

Nina : "Mamie, il y a une chaise longue."

Mamie : "Oui, je sais, c'est pour moi. Je ne voulais pas avoir à trimbaler une chaise pliante en plus du reste."

Lucie : "Tu n'aimes pas t'asseoir sur le sable ?"

Mamie : "Non pas vraiment et comme ça vous n'aurez pas à m'aider à me relever."

Nina : "Moi non plus, je n'aime pas avoir du sable partout."

Nina : "Grandma, there's a deckchair."

Grandma : "Yes, I know, it's for me. I didn't want to have to lug a folding chair around on top of everything else."

Lucie : "Don't you like sitting on the sand?"

Grandma : "No, not really and this way you won't have to help me up."

Nina : "Me neither, I don't like having sand all over me."

Mamie : "Nina met une serviette sur le sable pour Quentin et Fiona débarrasse toi de ton filet pour m'aider avec lui. Il commence à être lourd. Les filles, mettez vos maillots."

Fiona : "J'ai déjà le mien sur moi."

Lucie : "J'aurais dû faire comme Fiona. Je n'ai pas envie que tout le monde me voit toute nue." 

Fiona : "Je vais tenir une serviette devant toi comme ça personne ne te verra."

Lucie : "Merci Fiona. Oh, Nina tu es déjà prête."

Grandma : "Nina lay a towel on the sand for Quentin and Fiona get rid of your net to help me with him. He's starting to get heavy. Girls, put on your swimsuits."

Fiona : "I've already got mine on."

Lucie : "I should have done what Fiona did. I don't want everybody to see me naked."

Fiona : "I'll hold a towel in front of you so nobody sees you."

Lucie : "Thank you Fiona. Oh, Nina you're already ready."

Nina et Lucie se sont bien baignées, ont joué au ballon et avec les seaux. La pêche aux crevettes est terminée et les crevettes dans le panier pour ce soir. Le maillot de Fiona est sec et elle a pu remettre sa robe. Quant à Quentin il s'amuse avec un coquillage, Fiona surveille qu'il ne le mange pas. Mais où sont Mamie et les deux autres filles ? 

Nina and Lucie had a great swim, played with the ball and the buckets. Shrimping is over and the shrimps in the basket for this evening. Fiona's swimsuit is dry and she was able to put her dress back on. As for Quentin is playing with a shell, Fiona watches he doesn't eat it. But where are Grandma and the two other girls?

Mamie et les filles reviennent avec un goûter. Une après-midi à la plage donne faim. Pour Mamie l'un des avantages des vacances avec les petits-enfants est qu'elle a une bonne excuse pour assouvir sa gourmandise. 

Lucie est déjà dans la tente. "Nous sommes de retour. Quentin ne mange pas le coquillage, on a des chichis pour toi, si Nina ne les a pas tous mangés."

Nina : "Très drôle, Lucie. J'en ai mangé qu'un et toi aussi."

Grandma and the girls come back with a snack. An afternoon on the beach makes you hungry. For Grandma one of the advantages of holidays with grandchildren is that she has a good excuse to indulge her sweet tooth. 

Lucie is already in the tent. "We're back. Quentin don't eat the shell, we've got doughnuts for you, if Nina hasn't eaten them all."

Nina : "Very funny, Lucie. I've only had one and so have you."

Fiona : "Des gaufres, génial !"
Lucie : "J'avais dit à Mamie que tu adores ça."
Mamie : "Allez, servez vous."
Mamie va savourer sa gaufre en pensant à la bonne soirée qu'elle va passer ce soir avec Grand-père. La plage et la baignade ça fatigue et les filles iront au lit de bonne heure. Mamie pourra lire son livre, que bien sûr elle a à peine ouvert. Si elle ne s'endort pas dans son fauteuil après cette après-midi à la plage.

Fiona : "Waffles, great!"

Lucie : "I told Grandma you love them."

Grandma : "Go on, help yourselves."

Grandma is going to savour her waffle thinking about the lovely evening she's going to spend with Granddad. The beach and swimming are tiring and the girls will go to bed early. Grandma will be able to read her book, which, of course, she has barely opened. If she doesn't doze off in her armchair after this afternoon at the beach.

Les cadeaux de Pâques - The Easter presents

Mamie : "Lucie, tu vas rester avec Quentin. "

Lucie : "Tu vas acheter quoi ?"

Mamie : "Rien, je vais commander les chocolats de Pâques."

Lucie : "Qu'est ce que tu vas commander pour moi ?"

Mamie : "Ce sera une surprise."

 

Grandma : "Lucie, you'll stay with Quentin."

Lucie : "What are you going to buy?"

Grandma : "Nothing, I'm going to order the Easter chocolates."

Lucie : "What are you going to order for me?"

Mamie : "It will be a surprise."

Après la réponse de Mamie Lucie se demande bien ce qu'elle aura comme chocolat de Pâques. Plutôt que de rester à côté de Quentin elle préfère regarder la vitrine et essayer de deviner ce que Mamie va choisir pour elle.

After Grandma's reply Lucie wonders what Easter chocolate she'll get. Instead of staying next to Quentin she prefers to look at the shop window and try to guess what Grandma will choose for her.

Lucie dit à Quentin qu'elle aimerait bien avoir la coquille St Jacques car il y a des petits chocolats à l'intérieur, comme si Quentin était intéressé. Puis elle se met à rêver à son futur cadeau de Pâques quand tout d'un coup elle entend "Coucou Lucie." 

Lucie tells Quentin that she would love to get the scallop shell because there are some small chocolates inside, as if Quentin were interested. Then she starts dreaming about her future Easter present when suddenly she hears "Hello Lucie".

Lucie : "Ah, c'est toi. Coucou Pauline. Tu es toute seule ?"

Pauline : "Non, Maman est encore à l'intérieur. Je suis sortie parce que je t'ai vue."

Lucie : "Vous avez déjà acheté ton cadeau de Pâques."

Pauline : "Non, c'est le cadeau pour la maîtresse, je voulais te le montrer. Mon cadeau sera une surprise."

Lucie : "Pour nous aussi. Mamie va les commander, mais je voudrais la coquille St Jacques que j'ai vu dans la vitrine."

Lucie : "Oh, it's you. Hello Pauline. Are you on your own?"

Pauline : "No, I'm not. Mum's still inside. I came out because I saw you."

Lucie : "You've already bought your Easter present."

Pauline : "No, we didn't. It's the present for the teacher, I wanted to show it to you. My present will be a surprise."

Lucie : "For us too. Grandma's going to order them, but I'd love the scallop shell I saw in the shop window."

Pauline : "Je ne crois pas que tu l'auras car ta Mamie disait à Maman qu'elle allait commander des lapins."

Lucie : "Oh, vraiment ? Tiens, voilà Colin."

Pauline : "Oui, je sais. Je l'ai vu à l'intérieur."

Lucie : "Je n'ai pas le temps de lui parler. Il faut que j'aille dire à Mamie ce que je veux à la place d'un lapin. Tu peux surveiller Quentin, s'il te plait ?"

Pauline : "Oui, vas-y je t'attends. Dépêche à toi avant qu'elle passe sa commande."

Pauline : "I don't think you'll get it beacause your Grandma told Mum that she was going to order some bunnies."

Lucie : "Oh, really? Look, here comes Colin."

Pauline : "Yes, I know. I saw him inside."

Lucie : "I don't have time to talk to him. I need to go and tell Grandma what  I want instead of a bunny. Can you watch Quentin, please?"

Pauline : "Yes, go ahead, I'll wait for you. Hurry up before she places her order."

Colin : "Pourquoi Lucie ne m'a pas parlé ?"

Pauline : "Parce qu'elle veut dire à sa Mamie ce qu'elle veut pour Pâques. Elle revient."

Colin : "Ah, je croyais qu'elle était fâchée avec moi et je ne comprenais pas pourquoi."

Pauline : "Oh, la maîtresse arrive."

Colin : "Vite, cache ton cadeau."

Colin : "Why didn't Lucie talk to me?"

Pauline : "Because she wants to tell her Grandma what she wants for Easter. She'll be back."

Colin : "Ah, I thought she was angry with me and I couldn't understand why."

Pauline : "Oh, the teacher's coming."

Colin : "Quick, hide your present."

Marie Crayon : "Bonjour les enfants."

Pauline et Colin : "Bonjour Marie."

Colin : "Vous aussi vous allez à la boulangerie."

Marie Crayon : "Oui, comme toi je vais acheter une baguette."

Pauline : "Ma maman, Lucie et sa Mamie y sont aussi."

Marie Pen : "Hello children."

Pauline and Colin : "Hello Marie."

Colin : "You too are going to the baker's."

Marie Pen : "Yes, like you I'm going to buy a baguette."

Pauline : "My Mum, Lucie and her Grandma are there too."

Colin : "Vous allez peut-être avoir des cadeaux des élèves."

Marie Crayon : "Pourquoi, tu m'en as acheté un ?"

Colin : "Euh, non, désolé."

Pauline : "Je suis sûre que vous aurez une surprise."

Marie Crayon : "Je verrai bien. Bon dimanche et à lundi. Au revoir le enfants."

Pauline et colin : "Au revoir et à lundi."

Colin : "You might get some presents from the pupils."

Marie Pen : "Why, did you buy me one?"

Colin : "Er, no, sorry."

Pauline : "I'm sure you'll get a surprise."

Marie Pen : "I'll see. Have a nice Sunday and see you on Monday. Goodbye children."

Pauline and Colin : "Goodbye and see you on Monday."

Joyeuses Fêtes de Pâques - Happy Easter

Le bonnet du Père Noël - Father Christmas hat

 

Cette année Mamie et Grand-père sont chez Nina et Lucie pour le réveillon de la Saint- Sylvestre.  Mamie a bien compris que ses enfants voulaient être tranquilles pour préparer le repas et qu'elle devait s'occuper de ses petits-enfants. Donc quoi de mieux que de les emmener au marché de Noël avant qu'il ne ferme.

This year  Grandma and Granddad are staying with Nina and Lucie for New Year's Eve. Grandma understood that her children wanted some peace and quiet to prepare the meal and that she had to look after her grandchildren. So what better than to take them to the Christmas market before it closes 

Tiens mais qui est aussi là, c'est Colin avec un bonnet de Père Noël.

Nina : "Lucie, pourquoi tu regardes Colin comme ça ?"

Lucie : "Ce n'est pas lui que je regarde, c'est son bonnet de Père Noël, j'en veux un."

Colin : "Tu n'as qu'à en acheter un comme je viens de le faire. Regarde ils en vendent."

Hey, but who is also there, Colin with a Father Christmas hat.

Nina : "Lucie, why are you looking at Colin like that?"

Lucie : "I'm not looking at him, it's his Father Christmas hat, I want one."

Colin : "Just buy one as I did. Look they're selling them."

Lucie : "Mamie, Mamie tu m'achètes un bonnet de Père Noël, s'il te plaît ?"

Mamie : "Mais Noël est passé et puis on avait dit que l'on n'achèterait rien."

Lucie : "Mais Colin il en a un. Mamie, s'il te plaît."

Mamie : "Ah, pourquoi pas, si ça te fait vraiment plaisir."

Lucie : "Oh, merci Mamie."

Lucie : "Grandma, Grandma, will you buy me a Father Christmas hat, please?"

Grandma : "But Christmas is over and we said we wouldnt buy anything."

Lucie : "But Colin's got one.  Grandma, please."

Grandma : "Ah, why not, if it really makes you happy."

Lucie : "Oh, thank you Grandma."

Mamie : "Bonjour, on voudrait voir vos bonnets de Noël pour la petite, s'il vous plaît."

Vendeuse : "Je suis désolée, il ne reste plus que des grandes tailles. Je viens de vendre le dernier."

Lucie : "Oh, non. C'est trop triste. J'en voulais vraiment un."

Nina : "Tu as entendu Colin, tu as dû acheter le dernier."

Colin : "J'ai eu de la chance, mais pauvre Lucie."

Grandma : "Hello, we'd like to see your Father Christmas hats for the little one, please."

Saleswoman : "I'm sorry, there are only big sizes left. I've just sold the last one."

Lucie : "Oh, no. It's too sad. I really wanted one."

Nina : "You heard Colin, you must have bought the last one."

Colin : "I was lucky, but poor Lucie."

Nina : "Tu as raison. Mais si elle ne t'avait pas vu avec ton bonnet elle n'y aurait sans doute pas pensé."

Colin :" Tu es dure avec ta sœur." 

Nina : "Et pourquoi tu as un cadeau? C'est pour qui ?"

Colin : "Pour moi, avec l'argent que ma tante m'a donné."

Nina : "You're right. but if she hadn't seen you with your hat she probably wouldn't have thought of it."

Colin : "You're being hard on your sister."

Nina : "And why have you got a present? Who's it for?"

Colin : "For me, with the money my aunt gave me."

  

Mamie : "Je comprends que tu sois déçue Lucie, mais il n'y en a plus, on n'y peut rien, c'est comme ça."

Vendeuse : "Noël est passé et c'est le dernier jour du marché."

Lucie : "C'est trop bête, on aurait dû venir plus tôt."

Mamie : "Lucie ce n'est pas grave,  je t'en achèterai un l'année prochaine. A la place je vais prendre un sachet de chocolats à partager avec Nina et Quentin."

Lucie : "Merci Mamie. Je prendrai celui avec l'image du Père Noël."

Grandma : "I understand that you're disappointed Lucie, but there aren't any left, we can't do anything about it, that's how it is."

Saleswoman : "Christmas is over and it's the last day of the market."

Lucie : "That's too bad, wre should have come earlier."

Grandma : "Lucie that's ok, I'll buy you one next year. Instead I'll take a bag of chocolates to share with Nina and Quentin."

Lucie : "Thank you Grandma. I'll take the one with the picture of Father Christmas."

Nina : "Colin ne dit pas à Lucie que c'est toi qui a acheté le dernier bonnet de Père Noël."

Lucie : "Qu'est ce que tu dis à Colin ?"

Nina : "Que c'est bizarre de demander un paquet cadeau alors que le cadeau est pour lui."

Lucie : "Moi aussi j'aime ouvrir les paquets cadeaux. Mamie on rentre ?"

Mamie : "Oui, on y va. Au revoir Colin."

Colin : "Au revoir et Bonne année."

Nina : "Colin don' tell Lucie that you bought the last Father Christmas hat."

Lucie : "What are you saying to Colin?"

Nina : "That's it's strange to have asked for the present to be wrapped as it is for him."

Lucie : "I also love opening presents. Grandma, shall we go home?"

Grandma : "Yes, let's go. Goodbye Colin."

Colin : "Goodbye and Happy New Year."

 

Nina : "Quentin, tiens bien le sachet et ne perds pas les chocolats. Merci Mamie."

Mamie : "Ta sœur était tellement triste, il fallait bien quelque chose à la place."

Nina : "Mamie, tu sais que c'est Colin qui a acheté le dernier bonnet de Noël."

Mamie : "Ah bon ? J'espère qu'il n'est pas en train de lui dire."

Nina :" Ne t'inquiète pas, je l'ai prévenu."

Nina : "Quentin, hold on to the bag and don't lose the chocolates. Thank you Grandma."

Grandma : "Your sister was so sad, something was needed instead."

Nina : "Grandma, you know that it was Colin who bought the last Father Christmas hat."

Grandma : "Did he? I hope he isn't telling her."

Nina : "Don't worry, I warned him."

Nina : "Je prendrai le chocolat avec le Père Noël."

Mamie : "Non, c'est celui que ta sœur veut."

Nina : "Elle a déjà choisi, ce n'est pas juste."

Mamie : "Ce n'est pas le moment de faire des histoires."

Nina : "D'accord Mamie. L'important c'est le chocolat pas l'image, même si j'aurais préféré celle avec le Père Noël."

Mamie : "Qu'est ce que tu fais Lucie ? Viens, on rentre."

Nina : "I'll take the chocolate with Father Christmas."

Grandma : "No, you won't. It's the one your sister wants."

Nina : "She's already chosen, that's not fair."

Grandma : "This not the time to make a fuss."

Nina : "Ok, Grandma. The important thing is the chocolate not the picture, even though I would have preferred the one with Father Christmas."

Grandma : "What are you doing Lucie? Come on, let's go home."

Bonne Année 2026 - Happy New Year 2026

Un après-midi de Noël - A Christmas afternoon

 

Les cadeaux ont été ouverts, le repas de Noël est terminé et les parents des enfants sont partis se promener.

The presents have been opened, Christmas dinner is over and the children's parents have gone for a walk.

Mamie est de corvée de vaisselle, vraiment ? Tout le monde lui a dit on le fera plus tard, mais elle n'aime pas le désordre.

Grandma is on dishwashing duty, but is she really? Everybody told her we'll do it later, but she doesn't like untidiness.

Grand-père est encore dans l'atmosphère de Noël et regarde ses livres avec Fiona.

Granddad is still in a Christmassy mood and is looking at his books with Fiona.

 

Chloé : "Mamie, veux tu jouer au Mikado avec moi ?"

Mamie : "Pas maintenant, je fais la vaisselle, demande aux autres."

Chloé : "Nina ne veut pas, elle prend des photos et Lucie mange sa bûche."

Lucie : "Je viens de la finir."

Chloé : "Grandma, do you want to play Mikado with me?"

Grandma : "Not now, I'm doing the dishes, ask the others."

Chloé : "Nina doesn't want to, she's taking photos and Lucie is eating her cake."

Lucie : "I've just finished it."

Mamie : "Bravo Lucie ! Je vais pouvoir laver ton assiette et mettre la bûche au frigidaire. Chloé tu ne veux pas finir ta part ?"

Chloé : "J'ai plus faim."

Mamie : "Bon, tu la mangeras au goûter."

Grandma : "Well done Lucie! I can wash your plate and put the cake in the fridge. Chloé don't you want to finish your piece of cake?"

Chloé : "I'm full."

Grandma : "Well, you'll have it for afternoon snack."

Nina : "Qu'est ce que vous faites ? Vous voulez voir mes photos ?"

Grand-père : "Plus tard, montre les à Mamie."

Nina : "Et toi Fiona? J'ai pris une photo de toi et Grand-père."

Fiona : "Je suis occupée avec Grand-père."

Nina : "What are you doing? Do you want to see my photos?"

Granddad : "Later, show them to Grandma."

Nina : "And you Fiona? I took a photo of you and Granddad."

Fiona : "I'm busy with Granddad."

Chloé : "Lucie, on va jouer au Mikado."

Lucie : "D'accord, mais je n'y ai jamais joué."

Chloé : "J'y ai joué chez une amie, c'est pourquoi j'en ai demandé un pour Noël. Tu verras c'est chouette."

Chloé : "Lucie, let's play Mikado."

Lucie : "Ok, but I've never played it."

Chloé : "I played it at a friend's, that's why I asked for one for Christmas. You'll see it's great."

Lucie : "C'est ça le mikado, des baguettes ?"

Chloé : "Oui, et les baguettes ne sont pas toutes les mêmes."

Lucie : "Mais qu'est ce que l'on fait avec les baguettes?"

Chloé : "On va jouer par terre et je vais te montrer."

Lucie : "Is that Mikado, some sticks ?"

Chloé : "Yes, and the sticks aren't all the same."

Lucie : "But what do we do with the sticks?"

Chloé : "We'll play on the floor and I'll show you."

Nina : "Mamie viens voir mes photos, s'il te plait ?"

Mamie : "Qu'est ce que tu dis?"

Nina : "J'ai pris des photos et Grand-père m'a dit de te les montrer."

Mamie : "Plus tard, je n'ai pas fini de ranger."

Nina : "Mais tout le monde me dit après, c'est pas juste."

Nina : "Grandma come and see my photos, please?"

Grandma : "What are you saying?"

Nina : "I took some photos and Granddad told me to show them to you."

Grandma : "Later, I haven't finished tidying up."

Nina : "But everybody tells me later, it isn't fair."

Mamie : "J'ai une idée, prends des photos de famille avec grand-père et les autres."

Nina : "Super idée ! Et après tu viendras voir mes photos."

Mamie : "Oui, Charles prêt pour les photos. Maintenant laissez moi finir ce que j'ai à faire."

Nina : "Tout le monde devant le sapin pour les photos."

Grandma : "I've got an idea, take photos of the family with Granddad and the others."

Nina : "Great idea! And then you'll come and see my photos."

Grandma : "Yes, I will, Charles ready for the photos. Now let me finish what I have to do."

Nina : "Everybody in front of the Christmas tree for the photos."

Lucie : "Coucou Maman, tu es rentrée."

Maman : "Nina je vois que tu profites bien de ton appareil photo."

Chloé : "Tata, elle n'arrête pas de prendre des photos et ne veut pas jouer avec nous."

Nina : "Maman regarde mes photos."

Lucie : "Hello Mum, you're back."

Mum : "Nina I can see that you're enjoying your camera."

Chloé : "Auntie, she doesn't stop taking photos and doesn't want to play with us."

Nina : "Mum look at my photos."

Nina : "La première, je voulais prendre Mamie et Chloé."

Maman : "Bon, on les voit quand même un peu."

Nina : "The first one, I wanted to take Grandma and Chloé."

Mum : "Well, we see them a little bit."

Nina : "Oh le bonhomme de neige est flou."

Maman : "Tu feras mieux la prochaine fois."

Nina : "Oh, the snowman is blurred."

Mum : "You'll do better next time."

Nina : "Oh zut ! Celle-ci est aussi ratée."

Maman : "Ne sois pas déçue, ce n'est qu'un premier essai."

Nina : "Tu le crois vraiment?

Maman : "Oui, bien sûr. Passe moi ton appareil photo, je vais prendre la photo de famille  come ça tu pourras y être aussi."

Nina : "Oh heck! This one is also a disaster."

Mum : "Don't be disapppointed, it's only a first attempt."

Nina : "Do you really think so?"

Mum : "Yes, I do. Give me your camera, I'll take the family photo so you can be in it too."

Nina : "Chloé, qu'est ce que tu fais avec ton ours?"

Chloé : "J'en ai marre des photos."

Mamie : Tu vas gâcher la photo si on ne te voit pas."

Maman : "Allez Chloé, s'il te plait, sois gentille."

Chloé : "D'accord, Tata."

Nina : "Chloé, what are you doing with your bear?"

Chloé : "I'm fed up with photos."

Grandma : "You'll spoil the photo if we don't see you."

Mum : "Come on Chloé, please, be a good girl."

Chloé : "Ok, Auntie."

Maman : "Cheese !"

Mamie : "Cela fera un beau souvenir."

Nina : "Et moi, j'aurai enfin une bonne photo dans mon appareil photo."

Mamie : "Pourquoi tu dis ça ? Il faut que tu me montres tes photos et je suis sûre que Grand-père veut aussi les voir."

Lucie : "Moi aussi je veux les voir."

Nina : "Pas la peine elles sont ratées. Je vais en prendre d'autres et là vous les verrez."

Chloé : "Oh non, pas encore des photos."

Mum : "Cheese!"

Grandma : "It will be a nice souvenir."

Nina : "And I'll finally have a good photo in my camera."

Grandma : "Why are you saying that? You must show me your photos and I'm sure Granddad wants to see them too."

Lucie : "I too want to see them."

Nina : "No need they are a disaster. I'll take some more and then you can see them."

Chloé : "Oh no, not more photos."

une promenade avec grand-père (épisode 5 retour à la maison) - a walk with granddad (part 5 back home)

 

Lucie : "Je vais montrer mon étoile de mer aux autres."

Colin : "Et à moi aussi, je ne  l'ai pas encore vue. Peut-être que j'en trouverai une en pêchant avec Loïck."

Grand-père : "Tu as l'air d'être un grand ami de Loïck."

Colin : "Lucie m'a dit qu'il est aussi votre ami. Comment l'avez vous rencontré ?"

Grand-père : "Nous étions à l'école ensemble."

Colin : "Oh, ça fait longtemps."

Mamie : "Je me demande ce que font les filles."

Lucie : "I'm going to show my starfish to the others."

Colin : "And to me too. I haven't seen it yet. I may find one while fishing with Loïck."

Granddad : "You seem to be Loïck's great friend."

Colin : "Lucie told me he's also your friend. So how did you meet him?"

Granddad : "We were at school together."

Colin : "Oh, it's a long time ago."

Grandma : "I wonder what the girls are doing."

Nina : "On fait une nouvelle partie de Mikado ?"

Fiona : "Tu veux rejouer parce que tu as perdu."

Chloé : "J'ai fini mon livre. Je ne sais pas quoi faire."

Fiona : "Tu peux jouer avec nous."

Chloé : "Mais je n'aime pas ce jeu, il m'agace. On peut faire un autre jeu."

Nina : "Je ne suis pas d'accord, si ça ne te plait pas tu n'a qu'à prendre un autre livre."

Fiona : "J'entends Mamie qui rentre."

Nina : "Oh la barbe ! Allez, on commence tout de suite."

Nina : "Fiona what about a new game of Mikado?"

Fiona : "You want to play again because you've lost."

Chloe : "I've finished my book. I don't know what to do."

Fiona : "You can play with us."

Chloe : "But I don't like that game, it gets on my nerves. We can play another game."

Nina : "I don't agree, if you don't like it take another game."

Fiona : "I can hear Grandma coming home."

Nina : "Oh bother! Come on, let's start straight away."

Mamie : "Tout a l'air bien calme. Je vois que Fiona a mis les madeleines sur la table et a même préparé de la grenadine."

Grand-père : "Disons aux filles de descendre, Colin les attend et puis je voudrais bien goûter."

Mamie : "Les filles on est rentrés, descendez !"

Nina : "On veut finir notre partie de Mikado."

Mamie : "C'est dommage car un visiteur vous attend et surtout Nina."

Nina : "C'est qui ?"

Mamie : "Descends et tu verras."

Nina : "D'accord, on arrive."

Grandma : "Everything sounds quite quiet. I can see that Fiona put the madeleines on the table and even prepared some grenadine."

Granddad : "Let's tell the girls to come down, Colin is waiting for them and besides I'd like to have a snack."

Grandma : "Girls we're back, come down!"

Nina : "We want to finish our Mikado game."

Grandma : "It's a pity because a visitor is waiting for you and especially for Nina."

Nina : "Who is it?"

Grandma : "Come down and you'll see."

Nina : "Ok, we're coming."

Colin : "Coucou Nina."

Nina : "Chouette ! Quelle bonne surprise !"

Chloé : "Bonjour Colin. Qu'est ce que tu fais là ?"

Lucie : "On l'a rencontré quand il allait voir Loïck. Tu sais ils sont amis."

Nina : "Ah bon ! Loïck est ton ami, tu ne me l'avais pas dit."

Chloé : "Il est l'ami de Grand-père, mais moi je le trouve bizarre."

Colin : "Oui, je sais. Pourquoi tu dis qu'il est bizarre ? C'est pas vrai, il est gentil."

Lucie : "Je suis d'accord avec toi, il m'a donné une étoile de mer. Je vais demander à Grand-père de me la donner pour vous la montrer."

Colin : "Hi Nina."

Nina : "Great! What a good surprise!"

Chloe : "Hello Colin. What are ou doing here?"

Lucie : "We met him while he was going to see Loïck. You know they are friends."

Nina : "Really! Loïck is your friend, you hadn't told me."

Chloe : "He's Granddad's friend, but I think he's weird."

Colin : "Yes, I know it. Why do you say he's weird? It isn't true, he's a nice man."

Lucie : "I agree with you, he gave me a starfish. I'll ask Grandddad to give it to me to show it to you."

Grand-père :"Dis donc il n'y a pas beaucoup de madeleines, juste pour les enfants."

Mamie : "Je sais, je vais en garder pour toi."

Grand-père : "Je les préfère sans chocolat."

Fiona : "C'est ce que j'ai dit à Mamie."

Grand-père : "Tu es gentille, tu prends bien soin de moi."

Mamie : "Je vais sortir la boîte de galettes bretonnes, je n'ai pas besoin de madeleines."

Fiona : "Je vais aller la chercher."

Mamie : "Je vais donner à manger à Quentin et le mettre au lit, après je fais notre thé."

Granddad : "By the way there aren't many madeleines, only for the children."

Grandma : "I know, I'll save two for you."

Granddad : "I prefer them without chocolate."

Fiona : "It's what I told Grandma."

Granddad : "You're a kind girl, you take good care of me."

Grandma : "I'll get the box of biscuits, I don't need any madeleines."

Fiona : "I'll go and get it."

Grandma : "I'm going to feed Quentin and put him to bed, then I'll make our tea."

Colin : "Nina regarde mon bateau."

Nina : "Il est génial, tu l'as acheté où ?"

Colin : "Je ne l'ai pas acheté, je l'ai fait tout seul."

Nina : "Alors tu pourrais m'en faire un, mais un rouge."

Colin : "Bien sur, dès que je trouve un autre bout de bois."

Chloé : "Moi je trouve qu'il est pas si bien que ça, il est trop simple."

Nina : "Ne l'écoute pas, c'est une rabat-joie. Viens voir les madeleines."

Chloé : "Ben quoi ? Je dis ce que je pense, c'est tout."

Colin : "Nina look at my boat."

Nina : "It's awesome, where did you buy it?"

Colin : "I didn't buy it, I made it myself."

Nina : "So you could make one for me, but a red one."

Colin : "Of course, as soon as I find another piece of wood."

Chloe : "I think it isn't that good, it's too simple."

Nina : "Don't listen to her, she's a killjoy. Come and see the madeleines."

Chloe : "So what? I say what I think, that's all."

Lucie : "Chloé regarde comme mon étoile de mer est belle. Loïck me l'a donnée."

Chloé : "Je sais, tu l'as déjà dit. J'aimerais bien en avoir une aussi."

Grand-père : "La prochaine fois on pourra en demander une autre à Loïck pour toi."

Lucie : "Tu ne dirais pas ça Grand-père si tu savais ce qu'elle a dit tout à l'heure sur Loïck."

Grand-père : "Qu'est ce que tu as dit Chloé ?"

Lucie : "Qu'il est bizarre."

Grand-père : "Ce n'est pas gentil de dire ça, surtout que tu ne le connais pas bien. Tiens Lucie prends ton étoile de mer. Et maintenant allez jouer les filles."

Lucie : "Je vais aller la montrer à Mamie."

Lucie : "Chloe look how beautiful my starfish is. Loïck gave it to me."

Chloe : "I know, you've already said it. I would like to have one too."

Granddad : "Next time we could ask Loïck for another one for you."

Lucie : "You wouldn't say that Granddad if you knew what she said earlier about Loïck."

Granddad : "What did you say Chloe?"

Lucie : "That he's weird."

Granddad : "It isn't nice to say that, particularly you don't know him very well. Here you are Lucie, take your starfish. And now girls go and play."

Lucie : "I'll go and show it to Grandma."

Nina : "Tu peux poser ton bateau, personne ne va te le prendre, surtout pas Chloé."

Colin : "Tu as raison. Je me fiche de ce que Chloé a dit, je suis fier de mon bateau."

Nina : "Tout à l'heure elle s'est fait attraper par Mamie car elle lui avait répondu."

Chloé : "Ce n'est pas la peine de tout raconter."

Colin : "En fait elle me fait rire quand elle est ronchon."

Nina : "Bon, on va prendre des madeleines et après on pourra jouer. Fiona a préparé de la grenadine, j'espère que tu aimes ça."

Colin : "Oui, bien sûr."

Chloé : "Fiona."

Nina : "You can put your boat down, nobody will take it, especially not Chloe."

Colin : "You're right. I don't care what Chloe said, I'm proud of my boat."

Nina : "Earlier she was told off by Grandma because she had answered back."

Chloe : "No need to tell everything."

Colin : "In fact she makes me laugh when she's grouchy."

Nina : "Well, let's take some madeleines and then we can play. Fiona prepared some grenadine, I hope you like it."

Colin : "Of course I do."

Chloe : "Fiona."

Fiona : "Qu'est ce qu'il y a Chloé ?"

Chloé : "J'ai pas envie de grenadine."

Fiona : "C'est pas grave, il y a de l'eau."

Chloé : "Je veux du soda."

Fiona : "Mais tu sais très bien qu'il n'y en a pas."

Chloé : "La vie n'est pas drôle. pourquoi elle n'achète jamais de soda ?"

Fiona : "Mamie n'en achète que pour les occasions et c'est comme ça."

Chloé : "Quand je serai grande je m'en achèterai avec mon argent et ce sera que pour moi."

Fiona : "What's wrong Chloe?"

Chloe : "I don't want any grenadine."

Fiona : "It doesn't matter, there's some water."

Chloe : "I want some soda."

Fiona : "But you know very well there isn't any."

Chloe : "Life's no joke. Why does she never buy soda?"

Fiona : "Grandma only buys some for special occasions and that's it."

Chloe : "When I'm older I'll buy some with my own money and it will be only for me."

Chloé : "On ne peut vraiment jamais faire ce que l'on veut dans cette maison."

Mamie : "Chloé a l'air de bouder. Qu'est ce qu'elle a encore?"

Fiona : "Rien de spécial, elle voulait du soda. Typique !"

Lucie : "Pourquoi vous n'êtes pas intéressés par mon étoile de mer ? Vous êtes jaloux ?"

Colin : "Non, pas du tout. C'est juste parce que je compte en trouver une."

Nina : "Elle est belle mais on a envie de manger les madeleines et de jouer."

Lucie : "Ah d'accord ! Est ce que je peux jouer avec vous ?"

Nina : "Tu ne veux pas plutôt jouer avec Chloé ?"

Chloe : "You really can never do what you want in this house."

Grandma : "It looks like Chloe is sulking. What's the matter with her this time?"

Fiona : "Nothing much, she wanted some soda. Typical!"

Lucie : "Why aren't you interested in my starfish? Are you jealous?"

Colin : "Not at all, it's just that I expect to find one."

Nina : "It's beautiful but we want to eat the madeleines and play."

Lucie : "Ah ok! Can I play with you?"

Nina : "Don't you rather play with Chloe?"

Mamie : "Allez les enfants, servez vous ! Et puis après vous pouvez aller jouer."

Nina : "Merci Mamie."

Mamie : "Fiona regarde comme ils se jettent sur les madeleines."

Fiona : "Heureusement que tu en as gardé deux pour Grand-père."

Mamie : "Mais il ne va plus y en avoir pour toi."

Fiona : "Ce n'est pas grave, j'aime aussi beaucoup les galettes bretonnes."

Mamie : "Après toute ton aide c'est dommage. Es tu sûre de ne pas vouloir du thé ?"

Fiona : "Non merci. Je préfère la grenadine."

Grandma : "Come on children, help yourselves! And then you can play."

Nina : "Thank you Grandma."

Grandma : "Fiona look how they're pouncing on the madeleines."

Fiona : "Lucky you saved two for Granddad."

Grandma : "But there won't be any left for you."

Fiona : "It doesn't matter, I also like the biscuits very much."

Grandma : "After all your help it's too bad. Are you sure you don't want some tea?"

Fiona : "No thank you. I prefer some grenadine."

Mamie : "Chloé peut vraiment parfois être pénible. Je me demande pourquoi elle est comme ça."

Grand-père : "Je pense que c'est parce qu'elle n'est pas toujours heureuse, en grandissant elle pourra faire plus de choses et elle changera."

Mamie : "J'espère que tu as raison. En tout cas elle est si différente de toi Fiona."

Grand-père : "Ce n'est pas une bonne idée de comparer les enfants."

Fiona : "C'est vrai qu'elle n'est pas toujours facile. Mais quand elle est comme ça je ne fais pas attention."

Mamie : "Tu es vraiment patiente."

Grand-père : "On ne peut pas toujours dire la même chose de toi, n'est ce pas Fiona ?"

Fiona : "Je ne dirai rien."

Mamie : "Vraiment ? N'exagérons rien !"

Grandma : "Chloe can be a real pain sometimes. I wonder why she's like that."

Granddad : "I think it's because she isn't always happy, once she's older she'll be able to do more things and she'll change."

Grandma : "I hope you're right. Anyway she's so different from you Fiona."

Fiona : "It's true that she isn't always easy-going. but when she's like that I don't pay any attention."

Grandma : "You're really patient."

Granddad : "We can't always say the same thing about you, can we, Fiona?"

fiona : "I won't say a thing."

Mamie : "Bien, profitons du calme et de notre pause."

Grand-père :" Mais il n'y a du thé que pour deux et des madeleines que pour moi."

Fiona : "Je vais prendre de la grenadine et Mamie et moi allons prendre des galettes."

Grand-père : "Donc je suis un privilégié, Solange avec tout ce que tu as fait tu méritais d'en avoir aussi."

Mamie : "Et Fiona aussi ! Quelle journée ! Quoi qu'il en soit, j'aime avoir les petits-enfants avec nous."

Grand-père : "N'oublie pas que c'était la même chose avec leurs parents quand ils étaient enfants."

Fiona : "Ah ah, il faut me raconter."

Grand-père : "Il y aurait beaucoup à dire, n'est ce pas Solange ?"

Grandma : "Well, Let's enjoy the peace and our break."

Granddad : "But there is tea only for two and madeleines only for me."

Fiona : "I'll take some grenadine and Grandma and I will have some biscuits."

Granddad : "So I'm lucky, Solange with everything you've done you deserved to have some too."

Grandma : "And Fiona too! What a day! However that may be, I enjoy having the grandchildren with us."
